June 6 News – Summer School and MORE!

Summer Reading
Did you know that research shows when children and their families read throughout the summer, fewer students experience a loss of skills while school is out? We encourage all families to keep their children reading through the summer as everyone enjoys the break. Although there is no formal summer reading assignment this year, there are several websites that offer reading fun and enrichment. The site http://www.scholastic.com/parents offers many great resources. Another great resource for all grades is: www.earlychildhoodeducationzone.com/best-online-reading-programs/. Here’s to a great summer of reading!

There will be extra rehearsals in addition to the Tuesday/Thursday class, (the drama students will be meeting every day) and a complete schedule will be given on the first day. Library Notes
Some see a “cliche” as an overly familiar, commonplace or overused phrase or idea. Well, this Librarian finds some truth and validity in the thought that “the only constant in life is change.” When it comes to our Library efforts, we maintain our collection by annually pruning it of long unborrowed books, while constantly nourishing our shelves and display with purchased and donated ones. With the grateful support of SBS families, we are thusly able to engage and ongoingly promote the reading interests of our students.
