Nov. 22 News – Report Cards, and MORE!

Nov 23rd & Nov 24th NO SCHOOL
There will be no school or daycare available in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. School will resume Monday Nov. 27th.

Report Cards
Report Cards will be given out next Wednesday Nov 29th.

God’s Children
From now until December your children will be participating in class discussions on protecting God’s Children. If you do not want your child to participate, please send in a note to the office. Thank you.

Save The Date
Once again Santa Claus is coming to St Bridget of Sweden School !! On Friday Dec.8th, we will be having breakfast with Santa. Order forms for pictures will be sent out soon.

Library Notes
With the advent of this holiday season, we reflect thankfully on the blessings that God has bestowed on us. Ever grateful are we for the encouragement and support you give to the reading adventure of your students. While this journey, nurtured by the love of family, may have its  challenges, the gift of literacy is an invaluable sought-after treasure. This summer new security front doors were installed. In order to get in, you will need to ring the buzzer. The office will be able to see and hear the visitor and open the door automatically. The two gates on Whitaker and Sherman Way will be locked during the school day. Our goal is to enhance security for the campus.

Our next parent meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 16th, at 7:00 pm. Remember that after attending three parent meetings, you will receive your fifty dollar credit.

Picture Day
If your student missed out on the first round of pictures, they can get them taken on Thursday, Nov.16th.

School Family Retreat
On Saturday, November 18th, we will be having our school family retreat. Last year’s family retreat during Lent was a very good experience for all who attended. Please join us, as we look forward to a spiritual Advent season. Please see attached flyer for more information.

SBS Color Run Fundraiser
We are hosting our first SBS Color Run fundraiser. This new event will be held November 22nd and students are asked to fill out a donation form. Please see all attached flyers for information on this exciting event!

Library Notes
Still not yet in gear to follow up with individual Overdue Book Notices. And, understandably, the forgetful ones are in the lower grades. For now, I will work on verbal reminders and continue to partner with families in having all our Library Book Borrowers remember to return their books. Thanks.

Boy Scouts Troop 431& Cub Scout Pack 564
With grateful hearts, we thank the scouts for their food collection. The food will be given out to families in need for the Thanksgiving season.

Oct. 25 News – Jr. High Dance, and MORE!

Jr. High Dance
Our first Jr. High Dance, for seventh and eighth grade students, will be Friday, October 27th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. All students must have a signed permission slip to attend the dance. Sodas and bottles of water will be sold for fifty cents and snacks will be provided. The permission slip is included in this week’s family envelope, please return it asap.

Halloween
Tuesday, October 31st, students will be celebrating Halloween. Students are to come to school dressed in their costume. There will be a Halloween parade in the parking lot at eight o’clock. Please don’t be late, so that all children will be able to participate in the parade. There will be Student Council sponsored activities in the afternoon. Prizes will be given for the best costume from each class. Children may change into their school uniform after the parade if they choose to.

Library Notes: Updates
Two points: First, we begin by conveying a Great Big THANK YOU for our SBS community’s support of our annual Book Fair. Your care for students’ reading led to our exceeding a $5K sales goal by nearly $400. And most appreciatively, as well, thirteen parent volunteers made successful operation of our five-day Fair possible.
Second, we now move forward, gratefully seeking SBS families’ help, once again, in getting Overdue Library books returned and enabling others to enjoy the resources of our Library.

Oct. 18 News – Movie Night and MORE!

Movie Night
Movie Night is here, this Friday, October 20st, our annual Family Movie Night and great family fun night. The big movie screen will be positioned on the field, so bring your jackets, blankets and lawn chairs. You may either bring your own food or order St. Bridget food, snacks and drinks. This year the movie is Star Wars: Rogue One. Come spend the evening with your St. Bridget family. Enclosed is the pre- order form for food and snacks. Items will be sold at Movie Night.

Library Notes: Book Fair “Last Day”
1) Book Fair ON-SITE ends Thursday at 6pm.
2) We are most grateful for the family support, through purchases and volunteer help, especially during the Fair’s first three days. And, most appreciatively, we are on track to meet, if not exceed, our $5000 sales goal!
3) The Fair continues ONLINE until October 24th. Just click on the Book Fair icon on our school webpage, that takes you to the Book Fair page for Online Fair access and an even broader range of book choices. This includes pre-ordering November’s next Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. All online purchases will be sent to the school for distribution.   

Halloween

Breakfast This Weekend!
Our first scholarship breakfast this year is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 15th. Come start your day with Mass, fellowship, a delicious breakfast, and the opportunity to browse at the Book Fair selections. The proceeds will go towards the Laura Meyers and the Michael Daughtery Scholarship fund.

Movie Night
Mark your calendar for Friday, October 20th, our annual Family Movie Night, a great family fun night. Bring your chairs and blankets and view the movie on the big screen on the field, refreshments will be sold. This year the movie is Star Wars: Rogue One.

Fundraiser
This Thursday, October 12th, we will be selling chicken nuggets for $1.50, nachos $1.50, and ice cream for $1.00. Please support our school! See enclosed flyer.

Library Notes: Book Fair Help Needed
Another Request: Our annual Scholastic Book Fair begins this weekend, and as Book Fair Coordinator I need to have volunteers for the many time slots still needing to be filled. If you can, please volunteer some of your valuable time and earn service hours, by helping with set-up on Saturday night (Oct.14th), and by helping during the Fair (Fair goes on Sunday morning, Oct.15, and during the week, in the afternoons, Oct 16th to 19th).

To volunteer today, you can now go to the SignUp.com link (used for the Fall Festival) noted below to select time slots that would work for you.

Guitar Lessons

With the Book Fair present from October 15th to the 19th, we want to promote our community’s reading adventure and further support our school. Essential to the success of the Book Fair, however, is Volunteer support and the opportunity to earn service hours. Post Fall Festival Reminder: In less than three weeks, our Annual Scholastic Book Fair gets underway. To be exact, the Book Fair begins its five-day run on Sunday morning, October 15th at 8 a.m., in conjunction with the first Scholarship Breakfast of the school year. Come by after the morning masses for family nourishment of the body and the imagination. But don’t worry if you can’t make it then, as Book Fair nutrition will be available for purchase from 1 to 6pm, Monday through Thursday, October 16th to the 19th. Look for more information to come soon online, especially as we seek vital volunteer support for our Book Fair.

Sept. 20 News – FF Hours, and MORE!

Fall Festival Hours
All families must work a minimum of fourteen hours Fall Festival weekend. You will be billed for uncompleted hours. We welcome any one that would like to work additional hours, and these will go towards your twenty-six service hours.

Responsible
Grades 2,4,6 are responsible for Fall Festival set- up on Thursday, 6:00 – 8:00 pm and grades 3,5, 7 are responsible for tear down, Sunday, 10:00 – 12:00 pm. Grades TK, K, 1 and 8 are encouraged to help in any way. For those that can, Monday clean-up is time and a half service hours. Help on Monday is greatly appreciated as we try to get ready for school on Tuesday morning.

No School
A reminder that there is no school this Friday, Sept. 22rd and Monday, Sept. 25th. School will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 26th..

Raffle Tickets
We strongly encourage families to sell as many as they can to friends, neighbors, co-workers, and relatives. They are only a dollar a ticket and the prizes are great: 1st Prize: $2000 cash, 2nd Prize: a Sony Playstation, and 3rd Prize: a 52” flatscreen TV. If you would like more Raffle tickets, please contact Amanda Riggs or the office.

Cash Prize – Top Raffle Seller!!
There is a $50 Cash Prize for the family that sells the MOST raffle tickets – please support our children and sell those tickets!
