Sept 27 News – Raffle Winners, and MORE!

Fall Festival

Picture Day

Sodas = Free Dress
Students who brought in a twelve pack of soda for the festival will be allowed to wear free dress this Thursday, Sept. 28. Teachers will have a list of students who brought in sodas.

The last week everyone will receive the paper family envelopes will be next week Wednesday October 4. If you turned n the Email Flyer asking for a paper copy, you will continue to receive it.

Breakfast
Our first scholarship breakfast this year is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 15th. Come start your day with Mass, fellowship, a delicious breakfast, and the opportunity to browse at the Book Fair selections. The proceeds will go towards the Laura Meyers Scholarship fund.

Library Notes
Post Fall Festival Reminder: In less than three weeks, our Annual Scholastic Book Fair gets underway. To be exact, the Book Fair begins its five-day run on Sunday morning, October 15th at 8 a.m., in conjunction with the first Scholarship Breakfast of the school year. Come by after the morning masses for family nourishment of the body and the imagination. But don’t worry if you can’t make it then, as Book Fair nutrition will be available for purchase from 1 to 6pm, Monday through Thursday, October 16th to the 19th. Look for more information to come soon online, especially as we seek vital volunteer support for our Book Fair.

New On Campus Procedures
This summer new security front doors were installed. In order to get in, you will need to ring the buzzer. The office will be able to see and hear the visitor and open the door automatically. The two gates on Whitaker and Sherman way will be locked during the school day. Our goal is to enhance security.

Sept. 20 News – FF Hours, and MORE!

Fall Festival Hours
All families must work a minimum of fourteen hours Fall Festival weekend. You will be billed for uncompleted hours. We welcome any one that would like to work additional hours, and these will go towards your twenty-six service hours.

Responsible
Grades 2,4,6 are responsible for Fall Festival set- up on Thursday, 6:00 – 8:00 pm and grades 3,5, 7 are responsible for tear down, Sunday, 10:00 – 12:00 pm. Grades TK, K, 1 and 8 are encouraged to help in any way. For those that can, Monday clean-up is time and a half service hours. Help on Monday is greatly appreciated as we try to get ready for school on Tuesday morning.

No School
A reminder that there is no school this Friday, Sept. 22rd and Monday, Sept. 25th. School will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 26th..

We strongly encourage families to sell as many as they can to friends, neighbors, co-workers, and relatives. They are only a dollar a ticket and the prizes are great: 1st Prize: $2000 cash, 2nd Prize: a Sony Playstation, and 3rd Prize: a 52” flatscreen TV. If you would like more Raffle tickets, please contact Amanda Riggs or the office.

Cash Prize – Top Raffle Seller!!
There is a $50 Cash Prize for the family that sells the MOST raffle tickets – please support our children and sell those tickets!

Library Notes
We welcome a new school year with lots of New Books to nourish your student’s reading adventure; you are most appreciatively invited to check them out by making a Library Stop during you Back to School Night visit on Thursday. Know that our Library books always prefer to be taken home for an up to a two week visit, with no fee ever charged unless they’re not cared for properly. Unborrowed, they are sentenced to a life of dust collecting on the shelf, avoiding eventual extradition to a Used Book facility or awaiting adoption. We gratefully welcome your continued support of the Library and your student’s use of its resources.

Secretary/Rceptionist
We are currently accepting resumes for persons interested in the school position of secretary/receptionist. This person should have good people skills, computer skills, and be multilingual.

August News – SPECIAL Edition

First Day of School
Our school year begins on Wednesday, August 23. That day will be a shortened day, ending at 12:30 PM. The rest of the week will also end at that time. Here’s to a successful new school year!

Staff Retirements
It is with gratitude tinged with sadness that we announce that Mrs. Pat Cosentino, the fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Yadira Butcher, the third grade teacher, and Mrs. Patty Watsabaugh, have retired from our school. We wish them nothing but success and enjoyment in their new ventures, and are grateful and blessed by their many years of service to the community of St. Bridget of Sweden school.

New Office Staff Member(s)
The office position has not been filled as of yet. More time is needed to ascertain the parameters of this job, as this position entails various duties that now need to be carefully looked at and considered.

New Fifth Grade Teacher
Amanda El Khoury is an alumni from St. Bridget of Sweden. She has earned two bachelor degrees and a Master’s Degree in Literature with a focus placed on Medieval and Renaissance Literature along with Digital Writing. She has also taught English at California State University, Northridge. She will be teaching 8th grade English as well as her regular subjects in 5th grade. Amanda sends this message: “I’m very excited to begin this upcoming school year and look forward to helping each student reach their highest potential!” Welcome Ms. El Khoury!

New Third Grade Teacher
Angelica Spaccarelli is also an alumni from St. Bridget of Sweden, where she was a high achiever both academically and in the student council, and also graduated from Bishop Alemany High School. She earned a degree in Human Development at University of California, Davis, with an emphasis on Child Development and Linguistics. She has worked with children of all ages, and looks forward to incorporating technology in the classroom. Angelica sent the following: “I look forward to starting this new school year and meeting you all!” Welcome

First Day of School
Our school year begins on Wednesday, August 23. That day will be a shortened day, ending at 12:30 PM. The rest of the week will also end at that time. Here’s to a successful new school year!

July 17 News – End of Summer School, and MORE!

Summer School
A big “Thank You” to all who participated in this year’s Summer Program! Many students sharpened their skills, learbed new things outside of the regular academic subjects, and had a great time! The students participating in the summer musical completed “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” which culminated with three great performances July 14-16. Congratulations to all!

May 31 News – Graduation, and MORE!

Summer School
Don’t forget to send in your form and payment for your selection of summer school classes. Summer school begins on Monday, June 19th. If you need an additional form you can find a link on the school home page, or contact the office.

Summer Reading
You can find a link on the school home page about summer reading. Please check it out for more info.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 23. Dismissal is at 12:30 PM.

Summer Camp
The first week of summer camp will be Monday, June 12th. If you haven’t signed up yet please send in your form. If you need a form please contact the office.

Payments
Tuition, service hours, daycare, registration and raffle payments are past due. Please contact tuition office sbstuitionof2@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

Yearbooks
For those that ordered the 2016-17 St. Bridget yearbook, your child will be receiving it on Friday, June 2nd. If you did not order one there are a few available to purchase. If interested please contact the yearbook committee.

Talent Show
This year’s taent show will be on Tuesday, June 6. at 9 am.

School Picnic
The annual school picnic wil be on Tuesay June 6. Lunch will be provided.

Graduation
Eighth grade students will be graduating on Friday, June 2nd, beginning with 7:00 p.m. Mass in the church. The graduation ceremony follows Mass. There will also be a reception in the hall for graduates and their families. Eighth grade students are to report to their classroom at 6:30.
Doors to the church will open at 6:30 for seating.

Fall Festival
Please join us on Tuesday, June 6. at 7 pm if you are planning on charing a booth or thinking about being a chairperson or to larn more about festival procedures.

Library Notes
As our SBS school year starts to wind down, the library focus shifts to more clean up time, trying to get it all together. Translated, this means getting all borrowed books returned by Monday, June 5th. If lost, we only request replacement cost, and as usual, there is no late fee for the return of overdue books. As always, we remain ever grateful for the help of our SBS families with such efforts.
