Library Notes
This week we reflect on celebration and the wonderful sense of community experienced in various St. Bridget events. Most recently I joined in one family celebration of our students’ First Holy Communion that brought to mind memories of my own Mexican American upbringing and traditions. We see such family experiences reflected in the primary level bilingual books of author Juan Felipe Herrera. These and other authors works will be on hallway display over the next week and in the library. Readers invited.

With Easter gratitude, and the returning support and encouragement of Ms. Watsabaugh, we again share out library related thoughts. In this case, it’s a reminder that we remain open to getting new book suggestions. We seek to be responsive to reader interests as we grow and maintain a helpful library collection. For example, lately, that has involved expanding our offerings on the world of soccer and their top players, based on a student request. And, as always, there are also the teacher requests we seek to meet to beneficially serve their classroom efforts. Our SBS community’s book ideas and donations are always welcomed.

Here’s wishing that we all have returned refreshed and renewed by this Easter Season. Looking ahead we will be drawing the attention of SBS readers to our hallway display of books newly added to our library collection. At the same time we’d like our community to be more aware of a currently underutilized information resource: our collection of National Geographics. The May 2017 volume focuses on “What Is Genius?” along with such photographic and pertinent texts on the Moors of Scotland, the Central African Republic and the Flower Vendors of India. Look for the volume on counter display in the library.
